John R Hawkins Alumni and Friends Inc. celebrated their 48th Annual Banquet on Saturday September 2, 2023 at Seven Springs Farms and Vineyard.  332 Axtell-Ridgeway Road, Norlina, NC 27563. 

The theme was "Embracing the Legacy: Reflect, Recommit, Rejuvenate.

The 2023 Scholarship recipients were:  Chase Ashton Davis, Brian Jaylon Graham, Mark Anthony Jones, Jr., and Maria Isabela Reyes.  hey each received $1000, 00.  

The Ernest A Turner Citizen of the Year Award was award\ed to Mrs. Edith T Allen, The Melvin D Tunstall Alumnus of the Year award was awarded to Mrs. Helen R Robinson and The James Estes Byers Education of the Year Award was awarded  to  Mrs. Geraldine Nicholson.
